Miguel Rodela arrested for rape after assaulting 3 patients at Wichita hospital

A 28-year-old man has been arrested by the Wichita police on charges of sexually assaulting three patients at a local hospital.

Records from Sedgwick County Jail indicate that Miguel Rodela was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon, facing three counts of rape involving physically powerless victims.

As of Friday morning, he was being held without bond.

The incident was reported by security personnel at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, prompting police officers to respond around 2 a.m. on Thursday, according to Juan Rebolledo, a spokesperson for the Wichita police.

Rebolledo clarified that the victims are three female patients and stated that Rodela neither worked at the hospital nor was he a patient there.

The Kansas Department of Corrections reveals that Rodela is presently under Community Corrections for previous convictions of aggravated assault and theft in 2019.
